DESCRIPTION:
Calamine is a mixture of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) with about 0.5% ferric oxide (Fe2O3). Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride belongs to the H1 antagonist of the ethanolamine class of drugs known as antihistamines. Camphor (C10H16O) is a ketone synthesized from the oil of turpentine.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Calamine lotion is a skin protectant. It works by soothing and protecting the skin. Diphenhydramine works by competing with free histamine for binding at H1 receptor sites and prevents itching. Camphor and menthol produce the sensation of warmth followed by a chilling sensation and thus exhibit anaesthetic properties.
INDICATIONS:
Irritations due to insect bites and stings, sunburn, skin rashes.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Calmac lotion is contraindicated in case of any known sensitivity or allergy to its ingredients.
SIDE EFFECTS:
None or minor side effects like rash, itching occur during the usage of this product.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Shake the bottle well. Apply it with your hands, a cotton ball, or a soft cloth to the affected area. Do not indiscriminately rub it all over large areas, but stick to the area of the rash, insect bite, etc. To allow the calamine lotion to dry on the skin, refrain from touching the area. It should be applied 2 or 3 times daily to the affected areas.
STORAGE:
Store calamine lotion at room temperature. Do not store it in the bathroom. Store away from heat, moisture, and light.
